Last year we were only able to open Blak Pearl up for 19 days. Even with this limited time, we had 148 visits from Mob, served 166 eat-in and take away meals, and provided 20 instances of support, advocacy and referral. We are going to do more in 2026, running the drop-in studio weekly.
You support goes directly into the studio’s operations:
$5 provides an eat in or takeaway meal
$10 buys consumable materials like visual diaries and pens
$50 allows us to purchase high quality canvas or paints
$100 covers our utilities for a month
$500 allows us to run a facilitated workshop
$1000 means we can invest in equipment like wood burners
$5000 covers our staffing for a month, and $50,000 would allow us to open an additional day each week.
It doesn’t matter how much you can give, every dollar goes towards supporting the artists at Blak Pearl.

Blak Pearl collaboratively designs programs that are either co-facilitated on site at the Studio in Fitzroy
or
Run in an outreach capacity at a site that reaches the target community
Blak Pearl currently facilitates:
the weekly Art Program at the Medically Supervised Injecting Rooms (MSIR)
Community events at the Fitzroy Studio with Ngwala Willumbong
The Fitzroy Studio can be used as an outpost for outreach workers who need a base to reach constituents in the Yarra region.
COALITION PARTNERS
Open to organisations that have a mutual interest and focus on the wellbeing of mob in Yarra
Entails attending regular meetings to consolidate policies, programming, needs as they arise, and ways to expand the program for those participating regularly
The coalition’s purpose is to:
Collaborate to achieve existing and ongoing strategic goals and outcomes
Share expertise between organisations
Share Elder Advisory Group members advice from a lived experience informed and culturally attuned perspective
Assess the success of programming based on outcomes and mob community feedback,
make adjustments, and
Allocate programming from service providers to the initiative
